Back at the Workbench

Posted: October 2026

Hello

I hope you are keeping well.

Wow, is it really October already? I’ve just returned from a week away in Spain and, after the heat, I’m actually enjoying the cooler temperatures back at home. I’ve certainly noticed the evenings drawing in and there’s an unmistakable autumnal feeling in the air.

It’s lovely to be back at my workbench and turning my attention to jewellery making. I’m starting to restock some of my best-selling ring designs in preparation for the forthcoming markets. These are wide hammered silver rings with cut-out hearts and stars. I try to have them available in as many sizes as I possible. I don’t often repeat many of my designs, but I do love making rings!

I’m also planning some new pieces for the season ahead. I’ve got lots of ideas taking shape, which I hope to share with you next month!

October Birthstones

While opal is the traditional birthstone for October, pink tourmaline has become the modern alternative.

Pink tourmaline is associated with compassion, emotional healing and love, including self-love. It is often said to have a calming energy, helping to soothe anxiety and encourage a sense of inner peace. Tourmaline can be found in an array of colours, which may be why it is associated with inspiring artistic creativity. Pink tourmaline is one of the most popular shades - not surprising since it looks so beautiful wrapped in silver.

What's coming up in October?

I’ll be taking Paula Wilkinson Jewellery to two events in October.

I’m returning to The Pump Rooms in Leamington Spa on Sunday 4 October. This is a beautiful venue, in the centre of Leamington, opposite the lovely Jeffson Gardens.

It will be great to exhibit in both of these stunning venues. It's always a fun atmosphere at these events as the stallholders are such a friendly supportive bunch. I can't wait to see all of their latest creations, and no doubt I'll get the urge to start on my Christmas shopping!
