Happy New Year 2023

Posted: February 2023

A slightly belated Happy New Year! I hope 2023 has got off to a good start for you. Personally, I’m glad we’re past the winter solstice and can look forward to the days becoming longer, not least because I prefer the natural light when I’m working on my jewellery. It also gets pretty chilly at my workbench at this time of year, so roll on the warmer days of Spring!

I’m very excited that my very own website is now live and here it is! Please browse, and do let me know what you think. I always welcome and value feedback.

February's Birthstone is Amethyst

It’s probably no big surprise that Amethyst is my favourite gemstone. Did you know its name originates from the Ancient Greek word amethystos, which apparently means “not drunk” and people believed the wearer could drink all night and remain sober! I can’t vouch for the accuracy of that claim, but as I wear Amethyst every day I can confirm that wearing such beautiful shades of purple can certainly bring you joy. If you have any lucky February-born friends and family, birthstone jewellery is a great idea for a birthday gift. Below is a selection of items currently available and there are more on the website.

Who'll be Your Valentine?

One of the most widely recognised symbols, universally representing love, is the iconic heart shape. I love using hearts in my jewellery as it’s a great shape to play with. It can be elongated, or made asymmetrical yet remains instantly recognisable.

Jewellery is always a great “go to” gift idea for a loved one, whether for your sweetheart, your best friend, family member, or even for yourself. It has so many advantages over other types of gift, it lasts forever, and the wearer will always be reminded of the person who gave it to them and the occasion.
