August 2025

Posted: September 2025

This last month has been a whirlwind! My workbench has seen lots of action, with putting the final touches to my pieces for the Stratford exhibition, then being proud Mother-of-the-Bride, I also had wedding jewellery to make for my daughter and her four bridesmaids. The bride had already chosen her wedding earrings and necklace (and ring, of course!), and it was a joy for me to design a bespoke bracelet that would complement her other jewellery for the big day. And for the bridesmaids, I made open heart pendants, which I’m very happy to say they loved them!

The wedding day was absolutely fabulous, a wonderful start to a lifetime of joy together for Ellie and James. Many congratulations to them!

Update from Stratford Art Exhibition

The Stratford Art Society exhibition was once again a delight to have my work included, but sadly it's now over.

Three of my Shakespeare pendants sold and three are still available. These are:

  • Romeo & Juliet
  • Hamlet
  • Love's Labour's Lost

I've uploaded them to my website. You can view the details here:

I Promised You a Magic Trick

Last month I promised to share with you a magic trick for cleaning silver chains. You can use this for any silver pieces, but I don’t recommend it for jewellery that contains stones. It’s especially useful for chains as it reaches the parts you can’t get to with a polishing cloth.

You will need:

  • a glass bowl large enough to fit the items you’re cleaning
  • some aluminum kitchen foil
  • a few tablespoons of Bicarbonate of Soda
  • boiling water.

Method:

  1. Line your container with aluminum foil, shiny side up and place your silver items on top of the foil.
  2. Sprinkle over the bircarbonate of soda.
  3. Gently add boiling water to completely submerge the silver. Immediately the bicarb will start to bubble and fizz, and gradually you’ll see the tarnish being lifted from the silver, revealing its shiny surface underneath.
  4. After 3-4 minutes, remove the silver (carefully as it’ll be hot) and rinse it under a cold tap. Do not scrub, as bicarb is an abrasive and this could scratch your jewellery.
  5. Dry with a soft cloth.
  6. If your piece is badly tarnished, you may need to repeat the process a few times.
  7. Finish off with an anti-tarnish silver polishing cloth to bring back the full shine (I prefer the Goddards blue cloths)

Try it as it really does work like magic! It’s also eco-friendly. Result!

Where to find Paula Wilkinson Jewellery in September

I'm attending just one event in September:

Bidford Village Market

Saturday 6th September

9:00am – 1:00pm

I’ll be on the B50 Creatives stall at the market in Bidford on Avon village high street, showcasing a range of my handmade silver jewellery. This is a great little market, with stalls selling local produce and locally made art and crafts. The ideal place to support local businesses. Come along and enjoy this great little local community shopping experience!

And if you’re unable to visit my in-person events, please browse the website, your go-to place for handmade silver jewellery.

Thank You for Your Support

As always, thank you for your continued support. It means a lot to me.

With very best wishes

Paula
