Hammered Heart on Square Silver Pendant Necklace

Handmade using traditional silversmithing methods. The heart and the square pieces were cut from a sheet of sterling silver using a jewellers' piercing saw. These were filed and sanded to remove the rough edges, then hammered and soldered together and the jump ring was soldered to the top. The piece was then placed in a warm pickling bath to remove the fire scale caused by the heat from the blowtorch. After this the pendant was cleaned and polished to give it its lovely shine, and patina added to darken the backplate and highlight the design. Lastly the jump rings were attached for hanging the pendant on its chain.
