Amethyst Silver Heart Pendant Necklace on 16" Silver Chain

Hand made using traditional methods. The little heart shape was drawn by hand, cut from a sheet of sterling silver, filed, sanded and hammered. The stone setting was created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver bezel around the amethyst and making an oval band that was then soldered to a sheet of sterling silver along with the heart. The pendant was then cut, filed and sanded and and a jump ring soldered to the top and a bail created and soldered in place. The piece was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by more sanding and lots of polishing to give the pendant its lovely sheen. The amethyst was placed in the setting and the silver bezel shaped over the stone and burnished before hanging the pendant on its chain.
