Kyanite Dangly Silver Earrings

Hand crafted using traditional methods. The silver balls were created by melting tiny bits of sterling silver. The stone settings were created by fitting fine silver bezel strip around each stone and making little ovals, which were then soldered onto a sheet of sterling silver with the balls. These were then cut round using a piercing saw, filed and sanded. Jump rings were soldered to the tops and next they were placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, then lots of cleaning and polishing to give the earrings their lovely sheen. Patina was added to the backing plates and the stones were placed in the settings. The silver was pushed over around the edges of the stones to hold them in place, and the settings were burnished before hanging each one on a hook wire.
