Gothic Moonstone & Amethyst Silver Pendant Necklace on 18" Chain

Hand made using traditional methods. The little silver balls were created by melting small pieces of sterling silver. Next the stone settings were created by fitting a thin strip of fine silver bezel around each stone and making three oval bands which were then soldered to a sheet of sterling silver along with the silver balls. The pendant shape was then cut out, filed and sanded and a jump ring soldered to the top. The piece was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by lots of cleaning and polishing to give the pendant its lovely sheen. A patina was added to blacken the backplate to highlight the shiny raised parts of the pendant. The stones were placed in their settings one at a time and the silver bezel pushed over to hold them in place, and lastly the settings were burnished before hanging the pendant on its chain.
