Gothic Kyanite & Amethyst Silver Pendant Necklace

Hand made using traditional methods. The little silver balls were created by melting small pieces of sterling silver. Next the stone settings were created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver bezel around each stone and making two oval bands which were then soldered to a sheet of sterling silver along with the silver balls. The pendant shape was then cut out, filed and sanded and a jump ring soldered to the top. The piece was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by lots of cleaning and polishing to give the pendant its lovely sheen. A patina was added to blacken the backplate to highlight the shiny raised parts of the pendant. The stones were placed in their settings one at a time and the silver bezel pushed over to hold them in place, and lastly the settings were burnished.
