Amethyst Asymmetric Nouveau Organic Silver Dangly Earrings

Hand crafted using traditional methods. Lengths of wire were cut and their ends heated and melted to form their organic tips, and then the wire was shaped to fit around the stones. The stone settings were created by fitting a length of fine silver around each stone cabochon to make ovals, which were then soldered to a sheet of sterling silver, along with the formed wire. The pieces were cut round, filed and sanded. Jump rings were then soldered to the tops. The pieces were then placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by lots of cleaning and polishing to give the earrings their lovely sheen. A patina was added to daken the backing plate around the stone settings. The stones were then placed in the settings and the silver bezel pushed over the top to hold them in place and burnished before hanging each one on a sterling silver beaded hook wire.
