How this jewellery was made

Hand made using traditional methods. The stone setting was created by fitting a thin strip of fine silver bezel around the stone and then soldering this to a sheet of sterling silver. Sterling silver wire was then formed around the stone setting, the ends melted and soldered onto place. The piece was then cut out, filed and sanded before placing it in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch. Then followed lots of cleaning and polishing to give the pendant its lovely sheen. The stone was placed in the setting and the silver shaped over to hold it in place, and burnished before adding jump rings and hanging the pendant on its chain.
