Enamelled Hammered Silver Oval Earrings, Heather

Hand made using traditional methods. The ovals were drawn by hand and cut from sheet sterling silver using a piercing saw. They were then filed and sanded with abrasive paper to smooth the edges and remove scratches. Holes were drilled and jump rings were soldered to the tops. The pieces were next placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch. The texture was added using a hammer. The little ovals were then enamelled using finely ground glass powders, heating with a blowtorch to melt the glass and fuse it to the silver. Each piece was then cleaned and polished to give them a lovely sheen before linking the pieces with jump rings and hanging them on beaded sterling silver hook wires.
