How this jewellery was made ↓
Hand made using traditional methods. The ring was formed from a strip of sterling D-shaped silver wire. The stone setting created by fitting a length of fine silver around the stone and making an oval shape before soldering it to a sheet of silver to make a bezel setting, a cup the correct size and shape for the stone to sit in. These pieces were then filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The ring band was textured by hammering. The cup was soldered to the band, and then it was placed in a warm picking solution to help remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch. This was followed by lots of cleaning and polishing to give the ring its lovely sheen. Lastly the aquamarine was placed in the cup and the silver bezel pushed over the stone to hold it in place and burnished.
