How this jewellery was made ↓

Hand made using traditional methods. The stone setting was created by making a ring of fine silver bezel to fit perfectly around the amethyst and then soldering this to a sheet of sterling silver to make a cup the correct size for the stone to sit in. The ring band was formed from a strip of D-shaped sterling silver, shaped over a mandrel. These pieces were then filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The band was then textured by hammering before soldering on the stone setting. The ring was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by cleaning and lots of polishing to give it its lovely shine. Lastly the stone was placed in the cup and the silver bezel shaped over the edges of the stone and then burnished.
