How this jewellery was made ↓
Hand made using traditional methods. The ring was formed from a thick oval sterling silver wire. The stone setting created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver around the stone and making it into a ring before soldering it to a sheet of sterling silver to make a bezel setting, a cup the correct size and shape for the stone to sit in. These pieces were then filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The cup was soldered to the band and then placed in a warm picking solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch. Lots of cleaning followed by lots of polishing to give its lovely shine. Lastly the spinel was placed in the cup and the silver bezel pushed over the stone and burnished.
