How this jewellery was made ↓

Hand made using traditional methods. Firstly a strip of fine silver bezel was fitted around the stone to make the walls of the stone setting and then soldering this to to a sheet of sterling silver to make a cup the correct size for the stone to sit in. The ring band was formed from a strip of D-shaped sterling silver, shaped over a mandrel and ends soldered together. These pieces were then filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The texture was added by hammering. The cup was soldered to the band and the ring was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by cleaning and lots of polishing to give its lovely sheen. Lastly the turquoise was placed in the cup and the silver bezel shaped over the stone and burnished.
