Aquamarine Chunky Silver Ring, size N

Hand made using traditional methods. The ring was formed from a thick oval sterling silver wire. The stone setting created by fitting a strip of fine silver bezel around the stone and making it into an oval shape before soldering it to a sheet of silver to make a cup the correct size and shape for the stone to sit in. These pieces were then filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The cup was then soldered to the band before it was placed in a warm picking solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by more sanding and lots of polishing to give the ring its lovely sheen. Lastly the aquamarine was placed in the cup and the silver bezel pushed over the stone to hold it in place and burnished.
