Blue Lace Agate Chunky Hammered Silver Ring, size U

Hand made using traditional methods. The ring was formed from a legth of oval sterling silver. The stone setting created by fitting a strip of fine silver bezel around the stone to make an oval and then soldering it to a sheet of silver to form a cup the correct size and shape for the stone to sit in. These pieces were filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The ring shank was textured by hammering then the cup was soldered to the ring before placing it in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch. The ring was them cleaned and and polished to give it a lovely sheen. Lastly the stone was placed in the cup and the silver bezel shaped over the edges of the stone to hold it in place and the setting was burnished.
