How this jewellery was made ↓
Hand made using traditional methods. The stone setting was created by fitting a strip of fine silver bezel around the stone and making it into an oval before soldering it to a sheet of sterling silver to make a cup the correct size for the stone to sit in. The ring band was formed from a strip of D-shaped sterling silver, shaped over a mandrel and ends soldered together. These pieces were then filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The ring band was then textured by hammering. The cup was soldered to the band and the ring was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by cleaning and lots of polishing to give its lovely sheen. Lastly the apatite was placed in the cup and the silver bezel shaped over the stone and burnished.
