How this jewellery was made

Hand made using traditional methods. The stone setting was created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver bezel around the moonstone to make a little ring. The silver circle was cut from a sheet of sterling silver and the crescent from a sheet of copper. These were filed and sanded until all teh edges were smooth and the crescent was textured by hammering. The pieces were then soldered together and a jump ring soldered to the top. The piece was then placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by lots of cleaning and polishing to give the pendant its lovely sheen. A patina was added to blacken the backplate to highlight the shiny raised parts of the pendant. The stone was placed in the setting and the silver bezel pushed over to hold it in place, and lastly the setting was burnished.
