Crescent Moons of Hammered Silver with Moonstone Dangly Earrings

Hand crafted using traditional silversmithing methods. The crescent moons were drawn onto a sheet of sterling silver by hand, and cut with a piercing saw, filed and sanded, texture applied by hammering and jump rings soldered to the tops. The stone settings were created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver bezel around each stone to make little rings, which were then soldered to sheets of sterling silver, then cut out, filed and sanded and jump rings were soldered to the tops and bottoms of each one. The crescents were then joined with another jump ring to the stone settings. The pieces were placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, and then followed lots of cleaning and polishing. The stones were then placed in the settings and the silver bezel pushed over around the edges to hold them in place and burnished before hanging each earring on a beaded hook wire.
