Turquoise in Hammered Silver Circles Dangly Earrings

Hand crafted using traditional methods. The silver circles were created from sterling silver wire, shaped over a mandrel, ends soldered and then hammered to give their beaten texture. The stone settings were created by fitting fine silver bezel strip around each stone and making little rings, which were then soldered onto a sheet of sterling silver with the hammered circles balls and jump rings. These were then cut round using a piercing saw, filed and sanded. Next they were placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, then lots of cleaning and polishing to give the earrings their lovely sheen. Patina was added to the backing plates and the stones were placed in the settings. The silver was bezel pushed over to hold the stones in place and the settings were burnished before hanging each one on a hook wire.
