Silver Etched Crevasse Ring size L

The ring was created from a strip of sterling silver, shaped over a mandrel and ends soldered together. This was filed and sanded with several graded of abrasive papers to smooth the edges and remove scratches, and pickled to remove fire scale caused by the blow torch. The ring was then cleaned before painting it with a varnish, that would act as a resist to the etching acid, leaving a central design where the acid would burn into the metal. Once the etching was complete, the ring was cleaned and polished, and a patina added to oxidise and darken the crevasse created by the etching process.
