Turquoise Hammered Silver Ring size K

The stone setting was created by fitting a thin strip of fine silver bezel around the turquoise to make an oval which was then soldered to a sheet of sterling silver and cut around to make a cup the correct size for the stone to sit in. The ring band was formed from a strip of sterling silver and shaped over a mandrel and the ends soldered together. These pieces were then filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The band was textured by hammering and then the cup was soldered to the band. The ring was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch. This was followed by cleaning and lots of polishing to give the ring its lovely sheen. Lastly the stone was placed in the cup and the silver bezel shaped over the turquoise to hold it firmly in place and then it was burnished.
