Silver Crescent Peridot Necklace on 16" Sterling Silver Chain

Hand made using traditional methods. The crescent shape was cut from a sheet of sterling silver, filed, sanded and hammered. The stone setting was created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver around the stone and making an oval band that was then soldered to the crescent. Arches were soldered on each side for attaching the chain. The piece was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, and then followed lots of cleaning and polishing to give the pendant its lovely sheen. The peridot was placed in the setting and the silver bezel shaped over the stone and burnished before attaching the chain.
