Blue Lace Agate Silver Ring size P

Hand made using traditional methods. The stone setting was created by fitting a thin strip of fine silver bezel around the stone and making it into an oval before soldering it to a sheet of sterling silver to make a cup the correct size and shape for the stone to sit in. The ring band was formed from a strip of sterling silver, ends soldered together and shaped over a mandrel. These pieces were filed and sanded with several grades of abrasive papers to smooth all the edges and remove scratches. The cup was then soldered to the band. The ring was placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by lots of cleaning and polishing to give the ring its lovely sheen. Lastly the stone was placed in the cup and the silver bezel shaped over the stone and burnished.
