Blue Sodalite Silver Dangly Earrings with Hammered Silver Hearts

Hand crafted using traditional methods. The little heart shapes were drawn by hand, cut from a sheet of sterling silver using a piercing saw, then filed, sanded and hammered. The stone settings were created by fitting a very thin strip of fine silver bezel around each cabochon and making little rings, which were then soldered to little sheets of sterling silver along with the hearts. The earring shapes were then cut out, filed and sanded and jump rings were soldered to the top of each one. They were then placed in a warm pickling solution to remove the fire scale caused by the blow torch, followed by lots of cleraning and polishing to give the earrings their lovely sheen. Some patina was added to the back plate to enhance the shape of the silver hearts. The stones were then placed in the settings and the silver bezel pushed over the top to hold them in place before hanging each one on a hook wire.
